WORK AT THE SHARON PLAYHOUSE!

Sharon Playhouse 2026 Season Job Postings

The Sharon Playhouse’s 2026 season reflects a thoughtful investment in both artistic excellence and the people who make our work possible. With a more intentionally paced production calendar, our teams are able to focus more deeply, collaborate more effectively, and deliver their very best work β€” without compromising creative ambition or professional opportunity. This structure allows us to do fewer things better, while maintaining the high standards Sharon is known for.

Artistic and technical excellence remain at the heart of the Playhouse’s identity. In recent seasons, every production has earned recognition for its creative achievement, with designers, technicians, and artists honored for the exceptional work they bring to the stage. These accolades reflect a collaborative culture where creativity is supported, craftsmanship is celebrated, and every contribution matters.

Each year, the Sharon Playhouse employs more than 100 artists and professionals β€” including Equity and non-Equity actors, directors, musicians, designers, technicians, educators, box office associates, administrative staff, and front-of-house team members. Our campus includes professionally equipped scenic and costume shops, dedicated rehearsal and performance spaces such as the Bok Gallery, and administrative offices that support thoughtful, well-planned productions. Payroll is issued weekly, reflecting our commitment to reliable, professional working practices.

For staff temporarily relocating to Northwest Connecticut, housing is provided as a logistical accommodation to support seasonal contracts in a rural region with limited availability. Transportation between staff housing and the Playhouse is also arranged, helping make short-term relocation feasible and smooth for our non-local artists and professionals.

Located just 95 miles from New York City, the Sharon Playhouse offers a distinctive seasonal lifestyle that blends focused creative work with the charm of small-town living, access to nearby cultural hubs, and the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Staff live and work alongside fellow artists throughout the season, creating a built-in professional community and shared rhythm β€” while still enjoying space to recharge outside of rehearsal and performance hours. Our growing audiences and consistent recognition across artistic and technical disciplines reflect an institution with momentum, stability, and a strong reputation among theater professionals and patrons alike.

The 2026 MainStage Season includes Swingtime Canteen, 42nd Street, and Come From Away, along with our Spotlight Gala, Writer’s Playground, and a special staged reading of The Divine Sister. The YouthStage Season features Pooh’s Parade, Matilda Jr., Big Bad, Shrek Kids, the Launchpad Company production of Zombie Prom, and a school partnership production of Shrek Kids with Indian Mountain School.
